It turns compatible Alarm.com video doorbells and access control hardware into a complete intercom system, without the complex wiring that traditional intercom systems require. It works for properties of all sizes, from a single office managing one entry point to a residential community with multiple tenant accounts.

Property managers configure the directory with their tenant list, and when visitors arrive, they scan a QR code to access the directory, select the person they are visiting, and initiate a video call. Tenants receive the call in the Alarm.com app, can see the visitor on video, speak with them, and unlock the door remotely.

It works for both single-system setups and multi-account system configurations where a property manager oversees multiple tenant accounts across a property.

Not necessarily. Video Intercom Mobile Directory works with compatible Alarm.com wired video doorbells, including the VDB775, VDB750, VDB755P, and VDB770, as well as Alarm.com access control readers. If compatible hardware is already installed at the property, it can be used as part of the intercom solution. If new hardware is needed, your service provider can work with you to customize a solution that best fits your property.Q 

Visitors do not need an app or an account. They scan a QR code posted at the property entrance to open a digital directory in their mobile browser. From there, they select the tenant or business they are visiting and initiate a call. The tenant receives a video call notification in the Alarm.com app, can see the visitor through the connected video device, speak with them, and grant access by unlocking the door remotely. If the call goes unanswered, the tenant receives a missed call notification.

For visitors without a phone, property managers can optionally configure the video doorbell button to route directly to a front office or receptionist. When pressed, the call is received through the Alarm.com app, where staff can see the visitor on video and grant access remotely.

Yes. Tenants can receive intercom calls, view live video of the visitor, and unlock the door from anywhere using the Alarm.com app. There is no requirement to be on-site or near a physical intercom panel. For example, a tenant who is out can unlock the door for a delivery person so a package can be dropped inside, or a property manager can grant access for a scheduled service visit at an office building without being on-site.

Video Intercom Mobile Directory offers a simpler, more cost-effective approach using compatible Alarm.com video and access control devices, including hardware that may already be installed at the property. It also combines visitor communication and door access management into a single platform, replacing what would otherwise be two separate systems.

Property managers configure the system through the Alarm.com platform. They start by connecting the video and access control devices at the property to the intercom system, then build out the directory by adding tenant information and customizing it with the property name, logo, and a welcome message so visitors have a branded, professional experience when they arrive.

Once the directory is configured, tenants receive an invitation to enroll through the Alarm.com app. From that point, they are live in the directory and ready to receive visitor calls. The whole system is managed in one place, so there is no need to juggle separate tools for video, access, and tenant communication. When setup is complete, the property manager downloads a QR code to post at the building entrance.
