Hybrid video storage

Your on-premises SVR and onboard camera storage keep recording regardless of internet connectivity. Here is what happens during an outage:


1.  You can view all footage successfully uploaded to the cloud prior to the outage.
2. Your cameras continue recording locally, even while the internet is offline.
3. Once connectivity is restored, cloud access resumes and recordings captured during the outage will be backed up to the cloud for viewing.

Yes. Role-based access controls let you determine which users can view footage, and from which cameras or locations. Access is managed through the Alarm.com platform and limited to authorized users only.

Footage stored locally is encrypted and accessible only through the Alarm.com platform. Cloud-stored clips are encrypted in transit and at rest. Role-based access controls ensure footage is visible only to users you authorize. Clips can also be exported locally to an external drive directly from your stream video recorder.

Yes. Both cloud recordings and 24/7 local recordings are accessible through the Alarm.com platform from any location with an internet or cellular connection.

Alarm.com video storage works with Alarm.com cameras and select third-party cameras integrated through a compatible Alarm.com SVR. Supported third-party brands include any camera that uses the ONVIF or VAPIX protocols. Some features, including clip generation from metadata analytics, are only available on third-party cameras manufactured by AXIS or Hanwha and may require a specific service plans. Cloud clip uploads are allocated on a per-camera, per-month basis. If clips are depleting faster than expected, the system sends alerts so you can adjust your recording rules before the limit is reached. Recording rules pause automatically when the monthly limit is reached and restart on the first of the following month. Alarm event clips continue uploading regardless of recording rule status.

The Unified Download Manager lets you export clips directly from the Alarm.com platform. From the timeline view or saved clips gallery, select a clip by camera and time range. You can export up to 1 hour for onboard recordings and up to 15 minutes for SVR recordings. All exported files are delivered in MP4 format.

For local export, insert a USB drive or external hard drive in NTFS or FAT32 format into your stream video recorder. Log in to the device's local interface, select your camera and time range, and export directly to the connected drive. Clips are saved as MP4 files, with a maximum of 1 hour of footage per export.
