Yes, and this is one of the things that sets Alarm.com cameras apart. The V516 supports Perimeter Guard®, which automatically triggers an audio warning when someone enters a zone you've defined. You can also trigger warning sounds manually from the app. For more proactive protection, AI Deterrence is available as an optional add-on, using AI-generated voice messages that respond when a person is detected. Remote Video Monitoring is also available, where trained monitoring agents can intervene in real time and dispatch emergency services when needed.

The V516 gives you direct control over what gets captured. Set recording schedules by time of day or limit recording to when your system is armed. Use Privacy Zones to block specific areas of the camera's field of view from ever appearing in footage. Both settings are configurable from the Alarm.com app or customer website.

You have options. The V516 supports cloud-based clip recording as well as local recording with a microSD card or an Alarm.com Stream Video Recorder (SVR). With a microSD card installed directly in the camera, the V516 records continuously so you can go back and see everything around any event, not just the clip it generated.

The V516 requires an Alarm.com service plan, which your service provider can help you set up. If you already have an Alarm.com security system, the V516 connects directly to it — giving you video and security in one place. If you're starting with just a camera, your service provider can help you find the right plan and expand from there.

• 24/7 Local Recording: Continuously stores video to an encrypted microSD card (up to 1.5TB) or a Stream Video Recorder (SVR210), so you can review the full timeline around any event.
• Remote Video Monitoring (RVM): Trained operators review flagged events, verify real threats, and contact emergency services when needed.
• AI Deterrence: Automatically responds when a person is detected using adaptive, AI-generated voice messages, lights, and sounds to discourage unwanted activity before it escalates.
